All over Australia many country towns have Camp Oven Cooking competitions. They are usually held in conjunction with other programs and events held over a weekend, such as country music festivals and art exhibitions, making the whole weekend a great time to be in town. You can either become involved and compete, or simply just be an interested bystanding and maybe learn some tips on camp oven cooking.

Caragabal Sports Ground, Mid Western Highway, NSW - June

All proceeds on the day contribute to the maintenance of the Caragabal Memorial Hall.
BYO camp oven, ingredients, chairs and alcohol.
Free camping all weekend and lots of events for the family to join in.

Besides the Camp Oven Cook Off, events include the bush poets and busking competition. Watch the experts and sample their fare, tap your toes at the bush dance, and stroll around the Growers and Craft market.
Whipcracking, 4WD and BMX demos, Dog trials, activities for the kids and much more - come and join the fun!
Small admission fee. Powered and non-powered camping sites and cabin accommodation available.

The Trundle Bush Tucker Day - Trundle, NSW - September
Situated approximately 65km North-West of Parkes, the rural community of Trundle holds the bush cook competition in the showground and it is all about creating culinary delights in traditional camp ovens over open fires. Features Bush Cooking Competitions, Bush Tucker Tasting, Boiling Billy Race, Bushman's Relay, Dog jumping, Live bands throughout the day and evening, kids corner and competitions and entertainment for the whole family. Free camping, showers and toilets on site.

Australian Camp Oven Festival - Millmerran, Qld - October

In early Octoberin Millmerran, Qld, the Australian Camp Oven Festival is a two day celebration of all things Australian! Take part in their camp oven cooking competition, enjoy live entertainment and see heritage displays, sheep shearing, damper throwing and more. There's even a 'heat beads cooking workshop'.
