ARGENTINA

national park argentina lakeCamping Brazo Rincon in the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi
GPS 40° 43' 27.6" S / 71° 46' 49.5" W
Pesos 15 x p/p
There is a small store at the entrance to the camping area.
Camp sites are spread along the edge of the lake and there is also a small stream behind the camping areas.
Toilets/showers.
Just 2km from the Chile/Argentina border crossing.

 

 

Aldea Suiza Camping ground - El Bolson
GPS 41° 55' 38" S / 71° 31' 47.6" W
Situated beside river, just off the highway into El Bolson.
English speaking owner. Pleasant camping area, plenty shade - sites a bit tight for overlanders, but can be done.
Good toilets/showers/laundry troughs/washup facilties.
Bar and restaurant and small store.
Playground/tennis court.
Internet and wireless available.

Esquel - Nahual Pan camp ground
Situated on the north side of town.
Flat, grassy area but camp sites are pretty tight.
Power, fireplace and table. Hot water, fair facilities.

Just off highway along edge of rocky creek near abandoned buildings.

Bush Camp - 10km west of Periot Moreno
GPS 46° 36' 10.4" S / 71° 12' 49.2" W
On Edge of Lake.
Popular with locals for swimming and picnics. Plenty of room, No facilities.

Bush Camp at old homestead site on road to 'Cave of Hands'
A bout 4km from Ranger base at Cave of Hands'. Exposed, windy site, but all that was available.

GPS 49° 48' 34.5" S / 72° 03' 13" W
US$10 p/p or 40 pesos. (See page 716 of Rough Guide to Argentina.)
Small area, but good wind break.
Great little hotel, lots of character and history. Good facilities.
Internet wireless access available in hotel.

Good facilities, been upgraded.

Lago Roca bush campBush camp - Lago Roca In Los Glaciares National Park on edge of lake.
GPS 50° 31' 47.9" S / 72° 47' 24.5"W
No facilities. Bit of scrub offers some protection from the wind.
Great views west.
Note: no other camps within the NP.

 

 

 

 

Overnight camp site possible on Rio Santa Cruz at bridge crossing, just of highway.

 

Camp HainCamp Hain - Tolhuin
The camp is on the edge of a large North-east edge of lake Lago Fagano.
The owner and his helpers were friendly and helpful. There were wind breakes made from every conceivable thing.
Toilets and showers (bit worn and battered) with hot water.
Wi-Fi and a fogan (hut with stove, seating - very cosy).

 

 


Ushuaia - Camping Rio Pipo - camp ground
Big area amongst lovely beech forest. Bit more open area down near the river for bigger vehicles, otherwise a bit tight amongst the trees.
Hot showers / toilets. Use of very large kitchen if you want in the large 'refugio' or lounge area as well as Wi-Fi.
Can get your laundry done in one for a reasonable cost.
Cost 30,000 pesos p/p per night.
Sergio is one of the owners (family run) and he speaks a bit of english and very helpful and friendly.

Bush Camp - Magallanes Straits
GPS 52° 25' 21" S / 69° 35' 40.9" W
Situated 1km along dirt road, 2.5km from ferry point. Bare farming land.

Isla Pavon Camping ground - on Rio Santa Cruz
Camping area on the island in large area. Basic facilities. Great river.
Off National Route 3.

Comodoro Rivadavia Camping
On highway on north side of town.
GPS 45° 46' 55.2" S / 67° 29' 25.1" W
Relatively sheltered from the wind.
Basic facilities - new ones being build. Power and hot water.

Camerones Municipal Camping
GPS 44° 48' 1.5" S / 65° 42' 29" W
Pleasant spot amongst trees on the coast.
Good basic facilities, shelters, kiosk. Nice little town.

Gravel Pit Camp - north of Punta Tombo
GPS 43° 46' 32.9" S / 65° 26' 42.4" W
Beside road just north of the bitumen.

Playa el Doradillo - on coast less than 20km from Puerto Madryn.
GPS 42° 39' 29.5" S / 64° 59' 33.8" W
Lovely beach, popular with locals on weekend and other times on a good day, but would make a nice overnight camp.

Puerto PiramidesPuerto Piramides Municipal camp ground
GPS 42° 34' 25.2" S / 64° 16' 44.8" W
Huge area for camping just behind the dune to the beach/small bay.
Can be very windy and dusty. Easy walk into the small town.
Be careful of your gear and don't leave any outside when you aren't there, or at night.
You pay extra for a hot shower, but facilities were basic and clean.

 

 

 

El Condor camping groundEl Condor Camping ground - Municipal camping ground
Great little camping ground with extra good facilities always kept clean.
Large sites situated between rows of large gum trees, with a bit of protection from the wind.
Each site has a BBQ and partially enclosed bench.
Power and good water.

 

 

 

 

Lakeside Camp - Lago Cochico
GPS 36° 56' 28.7" S / 62° 20' 7.9" W
Very large camping area on north shore of Lake del Monte.
Good facilities - power, water, showers/toilets.
There is a store, police station.
The camp is located within a small community, 15km north of Guamini on Route 33.

River camp
GPS 33° 05' 35.5" S / 61° 42' 13.5" W
Situated on the outskirts of San Jose de la Esquina.
Nice shady trees and large area beside the river, but it is run down.
Toilets/showers very basic - cold water.

El Plalmer National ParkEl Palma National Park Camp
GPS 31° 51' 57.2" S / 58° 12' 32.6" W
Off Ruta 14 north fo Colonia.
Very large area beside the river.
Reasonable facilities, but overloaded on a busy weekend.
Hot showers. Power.
Small store/kiosk, and restaurant.
Hire bicycles available.

Ipora Resort Camp
GPS 28° 35' 7.8" S / 56° 05' 21.8" W
3km south of Santo Tome on Ruta 14.
Pool & small hotel accommodation.
Restaurant.
Fairly good facilities. Friendly family.

Iguazu Falls camping groundIguazu Camping Americano

On the main road just out of the town of Iguazu itself.
Good, large area, with plenty of shady trees.
Power, water, troughs.
Hot showers and toilets kept clean regularly.
Large swimming pool, kiosk, good restaurant.
Wi-fi and internet.
Bus stop just outside resort.

salta municipal camp groundSalta Municipal Camp Ground
GPS 24° 48' 46.9" S / 65° 25' 9.9" W
Large area with some good shade.
Has a HUGE pool, which is emptied end of summer.
Small supermarket close by, bus stop just out the front.
Can be VERY noisy, and crowded. Apparently when the pool is full the grounds are also full of locals.
Amenities are basic and need to be cleaned more often.
