A Century at the Top. By D.J. (Don) Sheeby. (A history of Telecom on the Cape 1887-1987).
Angor to Zillmanton.  Paperback 462 pg, by Colin Hooper. Stories of North Queensland deserted towns.
This is a wonderful written book about the early settlement history of North Queensland. There are great stories of places and characters that populated the early day landscape. The hardships of mining and exploration endured, are still visible today in the remains of ghost towns. This book is full of useful historical information including copies of early town survey maps. It shows how important tin and gold mining was to the eventual establishment of our larger coastal townships. It could be said that that we owe our existence to these early day pioneers.
